Singapore Fashion Week Day 3: Nicholas
This is way overdue. But better late than never.
It is a pure stroke of luck that Stephie and myself are obsessed with different things - while she is overwhelmed by Francis Cheong’s flamboyance, I’m ooh-ing over the simplicity of Nicholas.
The Nicholas collection is based primarily on the shirt. The sleeveless shirt to be precise.

As always, with minimalist pieces like this, the devil is in the details
Note the asymmetrical sleeves. Also the subtle, ‘wave-like’ detailings on the skirt.

I love the neat, sharp collars of all the shirts in the collection. I wonder, if we mere mortals (i.e. non-models) wear our shirts buttoned up all the way like this, will we look geeky/chic?

Tux-inspired details is always good for me, considering how I covet the androgyny thingie.

The classic white shirt is spiced up with a interesting ‘hem’. If only I’m tall enough to carry off the slouchy, I-can’t-care-less pants

It is my personal belief that a white shift dress can take you anywhere. The mock cowl neckline really doesn’t hurt a bit either.

It is most disturbing, but I find myself lusting after the lolita-ish outfits like the one above. The pleated, flare skirt, trim waistline and modest neckline… is somehow very understated attractive.

Other than neutrals like black, white and navy, mustard is the only other colour featured. And I quite like it

And polka dots the only print amidst the almost relentless basics. Somehow, it goes well. Goes to show that a little goes a long way.
All in all, the collection left me with the feeling that everyone should have fabulous foundation pieces like the ones shown. It’s so easy to build up on them.
And of course, with pieces as simple as these, construction is paramount, and I think our dear Nicholas did it wonderfully.
Anyway, am in no condition to blog much. Am still reeling from the aftermath of the SFW Wrap Party. Fashion Week parties are so much fun. With wine and bubbly all round, Stephie and I wonder why we didn’t do this earlier ![]()

Hi Vogueite, we have noticed her since the very first day of the SFW as well!
Although we haven’t really been stalking her *laugh* Just that we seem to bump into her all the time.
Hi Jazz
You can find the Nicholas stand-alone store at Stamford House - it is next to Baylene if I’m not wrong.
