Flea Nation
We received an email from Joy *wave* who asked us about flea markets in Singapore - like which are the ones held regularly and are worth spending your precious weekends on.
So here are a few that I find interesting 
:
Singapore River Market
For once a month until March 2008, the Singapore River Market will be held on the Singapore River Front. Apparantly, its organisors claim that it is our very own Portobello Market (London). Since I’d never been there yet, I can’t judge the authencity of this claim, but it sure sounds exciting.
What: 70 stores featuring unique local and international wares, including homeware, artware, clothing, accessories etc. There’ll be food to be had as well (sounds yummy). A family-friendly sort of market (i.e. story telling), so expect families with children.
Where: SINGAPORE RIVER @ THE ARTS HOUSE (there are both indoors and outdoors stores + a audio-guided heritage of the old parliament house is also available).
When: 3/4 November, 22/23 December, 2/3 February, 15/16 March

Boutiques at Fort Canning
Why: In support of Caring for Cambodia and AIDHA
What: Designer fashion, shoes, bags, jewelry, homedecor, textiles, contemporay art, antiques, childrens clothing etc (credit cards and NETS accepted).
Where: Fort Canning Centre, Cox Terrace, Fort Canning Park

The Shophouse Fair
What: Home wares, children’s clothing and accessories, women’s clothing, jewellery etc sourced from Asia, Europe, Australia and the States. Gourmet food and wine available all day. Garden setting.
When: Every last Thursday of the month. Upcoming on 29 November.
Where: 22 Lock Rd, Gillman Village (off Depot Rd)

Cross Roads Giant Garage Sale
What: Expatriate flea market; second-hand and new items from 168 private individuals; bargain prices. Free admission.
When: Once a year. Upcoming on 26/27 January 2008
Where: Cairnhill Community Club, near Newton Circus
