I’m currently on the look out for a sequined dress – not a sequin-detailed dress, but a full sequined dress.
I wonder if it is the aftermath of having watched Royston Tan’s 881, with its sequins + feathers overload.
I actually want to wear a sequined dress in the day and has been pondering how to carry it off for days. Ideally, to balance off the flamboyance and obviously meant-for-night element, a dress with a basic shape in neutral will serve my purpose well
Like this Tracy Reese Sequined Dress:

For night, I super duper like this foolproof Free People ‘Disco Ball’ Sequined Sparkle Knit Dress:

My favourite wardrobe staple of all will have to be clean-lined mini-dresses like this which I just throw out. Effortless for lazy days
In metallics, it makes a fantastic party dress. Bling it on!
Or for the less over-the-top inclined, a bold sequin detail will be enough to make a satisfactory statement – Tory Burch ‘Orchid’ Silk Dress with Sequin Detail:

Making this work for the office may take a bit more effort since sequins are hardly understated or professional looking. Still, I believe in never saying die and giving everything a try!
I think sequined tops may be easier to carry off at the work place. This very lovely Robert Rodriguez V-Front Tank, I believe, will do very nicely!

Personally I think the abstract bow is to-die-for. I’d always like bows, but this sure beats the regular bow hands down.
Sequined accessories are much easier to get away with. Try a scarf, like this Nordstrom Sequined Circle Scarf:

Keep the rest of the outfit simple because sequins really are quite enough to carry their own weight
If you still want to stick to dresses, a longer one may do the trick. 3.1 Phillip Lim Sequined Trapeze Dress:

So who says sequins only belongs to the garish stages of the ge tai?
