Yes, finally, wide brim hats are in. A university mate and I have been joking about “Big Hats” for years now, claiming these are tools to just get more attention in.
However, the big shot designers have gotten it into their heads that the sun-shielding head ornaments should also make a come-back in fashion instead of just a main-stay on the beaches of Bali.
Methinks the satin flops of a hat featured in Marc Jacobs’ Resort 2008 collection is adorable, and given a choice I’d get them in the orange-y shade found in the second picture.
Unfortch I have already acquired a soft floppy wide brim black straw hat, so getting yet another one in satin doesn’t make sense already!
Straw hats were also heavily featured in Oscar de la Renta’s Resort 2008 collection, so let me tell you in my whiney Karen voice (from Will & Grace!): Oh Honey! Get one of these already!

Hello chloe – you can actually get them from loads of places. I saw some at Level 4, the Oppt Shop in the Heeren. Also there should be a cute one at Soon Lee… loads of thrift shops have these as well. Alternatively you can try the shops selling straw wares near Haji Lane, they are bound to have some.
