Everyone Loves A Hit List
It seems that everyone has an obsession, to varying degrees, with hit lists. You know, things like Top 10 Spring Trends and the likes. While we all know that things are usually more complicated than can be distilled into neat little lists, we like the feeling of order that such lists give us.
But personally, I like them because they help save me precious time in the crazy world of digital information - with so much bombarding us at any one time, it is wonderful to have summarized articles telling us what to look out for.
Of course, this applies to fashion too
A new year, a new start - and also a time to recap. Refinery29 obviously share this sentiment when they put up this list of the best designers of 2007. This list may be far from being exhaustive, considering the number of people jumping head-first into the fashion industry each year, but it is a pretty good start!
I’d further distilled their list down to the following two designers ![]()
Stine Goya
Danish-borned Goya’s collection has the signature Scandinavian stamp - and that according to Refinery29, means “prints, purism and proportion”. For me, that translate into classic cuts, clean lines and an excellent play on shape.

What I Like: The cardigans (both shrunken and over-sized), the voluminous layered skirts, the superb colour combos.
Lorick
Abigail Lorick’s pieces exudes an undeniable ultra-feminine ’50s vibe. Yet, they are also playful and modern.

What I Like: The belted shift dresses, the wide-legged pants, the circle skirts, the gloves and culottes.

By the way Lorick is the designer behind Blair’s mother’s collection (from Gossip Girl) - I find all of her creations elegant and ladylike! (:
