Skirting the Issue

I’d never been much of a skirt girl - I much prefer the ease of slipping on a dress. Call me lazy if you will :) Besides, I always feels skirts are not the best thing for my small frame, making me feel dumpy at times.

When I do wear skirts, there are certain things I look out for - length and volume. I like them short and full.

The ultra short, ultra flare skirt, iconic piece of the Miu Miu S/S 2008 Collection, fulfills this criteria perfectly:

When I first saw it, I thought it was adorable and loved the dramatic shape, but deemed it to be too impractical for actually wearing.

Apparently, Susie Bubble and Queen Michelle didn’t think so :)

Susie layered an old skater skirt over a lycra dress to achieve her own Miu Miu-inspired outfit:

While Queen Michelle went so far as to make her own skirt! She’d even included a step by step

It is always interesting to see how runway trends are interpreted on the streets - and I’m pleasantly surprised by how wearable this skirt looks despite my earlier doubts :)

I wish I can sew too - DIY projects by fellow bloggers always make me feel immensely inspired to make something with my hands!
