Feet of Children and Ladies
Remember the time when we were still wearing cotton socks and white canvas shoes to school? It may not be our most fashion-forward moments, but think of how wonderfully soft and unblemished your feet were!
Unfortunately, our grown-up shoes no longer allow us to wear those thick, comfortable cotton socks which keep our feet in impeccable condition. Here’s where the ‘invisible socks’, foot covers, come in handy!

Traditionally, foot covers were meant to alleviate the discomfort of wearing narrow-toed or heeled shoes (i.e. excessive pressure on toes/balls of feet; sweatiness; blisters). However, the Japanese have already started wearing them as fashion accessories a good two years back!
I got my first pairs a year ago

Coloured and patterned foot covers can add a nice accent (even with open-toed shoes). On the other hand, what I really like are the nude ones, which provides the comfort of cotton socks but tuck neatly out of sight into my pumps.
For shoe addicts, its a godsend. Beautiful shoes without the pain - its almost too good to be true!
[You can find foot covers all over the island - I recently got a pair of nude ones from a tiny socks shop at J8 in Bishan for $3.30 a pair. However, I just came across black foot covers at Takashimaya's shoe section for $1.40 a pair!]
Speaking of feet-protection, panty hose may be a pretty good idea
For me, they brings back vague, hazy memories of my aunts and cousins carefully slipping on their sheer, nude pairs before putting on their shoes and rushing off to work. That’s why they have remained a symbol of old school elegance in my mind. Although some may find them dated and associate them with shoulder pads, there was once a time when no lady will step out of the house without first putting them on!
Besides, they’re lovely for keeping our feet mint and clean.

Personally, I will give the ’80s nudes a miss, and update the look by wearing a sheer shadow grey. Black may be perceived to be too saucy for the office, but grey is perfectly appropriate in most cases.

I’d also bought a couple of pairs in pearl
They are much more forgiving than white opaque leggings, and I thinking I’ll be using them quite a bit in the days to come.
[Panty hose are incredibly cheap; one can often get them sold in packs of five for as low as $5. A good place to buy them will be Takashimaya's shoe section, for they have a wide range of colours. Make sure you check our their bargain wagon - you may find unexpected surprises.]
Lastly, Scholl’s Crackling Ice Foot Gel will be a huge relief for those over-heated feet we all get at the end of a long day.

Cladding your feet is good for you!

OMG peds! I used to wear those with my uniform shoes in my last two years of high school…and my feet were pretty back then. Though sadly, they didn’t prevent those huge clompers that I wore from giving me blisters..

PS: Neither of the names I used is my real one…I just use them in different parts of my online life
