Of Big Apples and Gucci

We’ve heard loads about the Gucci Loves NY fashion gala this week from our favourite Susie and the lovely ex-blogger in the neighbourhood, Ms. Spinach. It certainly sounds like great, great fun and we’re sort of relieved we didn’t have the responsibility to hunt for a dress fit for a gala that SJP is attending…
However, it took a Fashion Indie, a blogger residing in the sweet city of New York to point out that it seems Gucci Loves New York but hates New York bloggers!
We at Fashion Nation, however, isn’t going to get into the bum of commentary on how mega fashion houses select their bloggers for attendance to great events - it seems like many bloggers we’ve spoken to are flabbergasted - blogging networks were not informed, the selection criteria was hazy, invites were thought to be spam (oh the horror)…
On most part, we love reading the accounts of bloggers who have been selected for such events. The bloggers we’ve read are very coherent and respectable - and I am confident these events, with experience, will turn out well and the fashion industry and the clout of fashion bloggers will trudge along in heels and trendy wellies (whatever works, eh?) to events which the world will watch, sigh, and lust after.

thanks for the mention. Just chilled with Susie Bubble and Cory Kennedy at the Iqons party at The Box and I couldn’t be happier for either of them. The Gucci party will undoubtingly rock!!! Just a little jealous I guess.

That was strange indeed…though my ‘weird’-radar started going off when I saw Cory Kennedy’s name placed with that of the other bloggers- I mean, the girl has rather cool personal style but who are they trying to fool- she certainly isn’t a fashion blogger.

Hi Daniel - bloggers’ chillout session?! Sounds way fun to me. I can’t wait for photographs from the Gucci party, it sounds like it is going to be a blast!
Hi Blue Floppy Hat - I have to agree with you on that. Half the time she looks tired and her blog’s seriously more of a personal one than a fashion blog. I do like her style, though.
