E.L.F. Cosmetics

I know I have not done a budget writeup for some time, so let me introduce you to E.L.F. Cosmetics. I first heard about this brand when I was an undergraduate, and madly in love with playing with makeup. A friend asked me if I wanted to place an order with her for brushes and makeup on a site that had great products at low prices.

I wasn’t too certain about this, so I passed up the offer, but my curiousity piqued and I checked out the site. I was stunned to oblivion with the prices - one US dollar for 90% of their products?! If you live in the US, then it’s free shipping for orders more than USD75.

My group of girlfriends quickly organised our orders and off it went with amazing deals.

I was certainly impressed with the wide array of brushes they had to offer!

with a kick-ass case costs only USD15, which if you converted, costs less than SGD30! That’s an amazing price, seeing that Shu Uemura sells a set of 3 brushes at USD149. Well, I’ll take that hundred and twenty dollars to spend on shoes and still get 9 brushes in return!

I think this set of brushes will be great for girls who have not really started collecting any make-up. If you’re not sure if you’re more suitable for liquid foundation, or a compact, or just loose powder, it doesn’t make much sense to immediately buy a MAC brush that costs SGD50 which you may not really use that much in the future. Why not start with a cool set of everything, and then if you like it, you can always invest in a better one in the future.

I tried out my ELF brushes once they arrived, and I found that they have a very good sweep of my powdered products, be it my MAC eyeshadow(s), NARS blusher, or my Chanel loose powder.

But do note that brush cleanliness is very important, so you should clean your brushes at least once a week. I use either Cetaphil, or my great discovery of Johnson&Johnson top to toe wash.

The other item which really got our stamp of approval is the in Candlelight. A shimmery lip color which goes on like a dream, it doesn’t go on sticky and even has sun protection! Being ever diligent, I checked out MUA’s product review on this, and all the members are raving about this one!

This is yet another good buy! I recommend to store this in your office desk, or stash it in your bag if you’re schooling - at one dollar, it doesn’t make that much of a sting if you misplace it, and it allows for great results! I’m a sucker for assessing the curl of eyelashes, so it is important to maintain your lashes primped and curled if you can help it!

What you should do if you are interested in buying, is to consolidate your orders with as many of your friends as possible. Splash it on your MSN nick! Chatter endlessly to your beauty junkie friends, and ask your family if they want any. This way you super cut down on your shipping, and share the overhead costs with all the people participating in the purchase.

Happy beauty shopping - I know I love a good deal, so I hope you guys will get that high from finding out about great one-dollar buys too! (:

Shopping Shoutout!

  • Hi, does ELF ship items to spore directly?

  • Isn’t it wonderful that e.l.f. has so many great deals? We are fans of the nail polishes, eyeshadows, and brushes as well.

Very fun review! Now I have got to try those glosses.
