Take a close look at this woman, for she is a genius.
Within hours, she has spun 14 (and more!) pages of comments worth on her collection on The Fashion Spot forums. Like her or not, her collections always garners an instantaneous response from the global fashion watchers.
More importantly, she has single-handedly reintroduced lace into our lives again.
Let me recap on my personal lace-related events leading up to this post.

After obsessively stalking Fashion Toast’s blog for pictures of her amazing skater boots, I caught sight of this amazing butterfly-sleeved lace top. I went ‘wow, that’s a great top’, and considered on how I could possibly wear that, but dismissed it since I have so many other items on my To-Buy list as it is.
Then, after holing up at home yesterday with a bad sore throat and flu, I had a note from Dottie today informing me of the cute Prada shoes for Fall/Winter 2008/09. ‘How perfect, more shoes to obsess over!’ I thought – but she didn’t warn me of the lace overload of the collection!
How many ways can we wear lace? Miuccia shows us how..

Lace skirt, lace shirt, lace dress as a top layer. All of which are fabulous, of course, and I can imagine tonnes of power career women on the waiting list for these lace pieces. It is how she paired outfits with different colored lace which got me thinking:

I frankly cannot see this working, but I am so excited to see ways on which different layers of different colored lace can work! I am staring long and hard, in particular the 2nd picture with the orange skirt, wondering ‘how, just how?’ in puzzlement…

Shoes, of course, were perfect. Reminiscent of budding petals of Valentine’s Day roses (my bouquet is wilting on the dining table as we speak), very much works of art as far as shoes go. Others were structural and architectural…

… while bags were of two seperate categories: lace monstrosities of which are perfect for juxtaposing, or adorably modern as reflected in the below picture. Moi, the bag hag, has total approval for this one:

In fact, I got thrown off during my first viewing of this F/W08 Prada collection. I was torn apart between writing it off as a lace nightmare, and running out tomorrow and grabbing up all the lace I can find before anyone else can.
After writing this post, I recognise that this collection has evoked first shock (and slight horror), and then positive excitement in me. I love lace, and yet Prada has just created a collection filled with lace, and yet each outfit is seemingly un-sexy. Lace shirts are buttoned all the way up. Lace skirts are all over-the-knee. It is grandma chic in totality, and I am very much digging it!
What did you think of it?

OKAY. I totally heart the shoes. They had me at hello. Oh god, I can’t believe I used that totally kitsch sentence
But they are evidence of the shoes’ power!

I’m digging Prada, her collection is just wow! And your shown shoes are amazing, although I might not able to work in heels but they are truely beautiful!

I’m just the opposite – I will gladly wear these heels, but its impossible for me to wear boots to work. I have a company ban on boots.

ban on boots? Why? That sucks
