SFF: Swedish Fashion Show “Once Upon a Time”

Last night, Dottie and I attended the Swedish Fashion Show – Once Upon a Time. We received an invite in our mail some time back for this event and have been quite excited about it, seeing that it was something different from the shows at the Tent. After poring over our show schedules we thought it best that Dottie attend this show (at 7.45pm) while I go for the Carlos Miele show which was at 8pm.

In the afternoon the rain started to pour, and so plans were altered to attend both together – what a lucky change in arrangement because the day panned out very nicely for us.

I was most impressed by the entire venue and turnout of the show, especially since the organizing committee was made up of six young girls who are no doubt very passionate about their work. (Great job, girls!)

I was also very taken by STYLE:NORDIC. As a store they exhibited true passion about their work, and a hand in organizing an event as different as this really did spell their ideas and interest in their industry.

In his thank-you speech Jonas from STYLE:NORDIC shared his thoughts and ideas on how the show came about, and knowing that he has been keen to work with students really made me feel very happy. I think an event such as this will mean a certain amount of exposure for the students involved, and fresh minds may not have experience but definitely enough creativity to go around. Just some thoughts from an old woman reflecting on her previous student organizer days…

The show started with models as mannequins organized by collections. The featured designers include swedish fashion brands Filippa K, Nudie Jeans, Odd Molly, Pour, Burfitt, Diana Orving and Rodebjer.

Host of the show dressed up like an elf, in sync with the theme of the show. I looked in amusement and thought, ‘Where are the leggings from?!’ which really spells a bad leggings and shopping obsession. On hindsight I should really be thinking if the elf in question feels iffy about his leggings… Ha!

One of the models was wearing this and I am wondering from the colorful rubberbands around her toe if this is a pair of DIY gladiator flats. If it is, I am most certainly impressed!

Overall the styling was good, the backdrop of storybooks in the window display, everything ran like clockwork and the general excitement of the students were contagious! Overall, I liked it a lot, especially the fact that it started on time!

There were lots of goodies in the goodie bag, which I will flip slowly over the calm of next week as compared to the hustle and bustle of this week!

Missing her student days
Stephie
