I don’t know about you, but I find this manifesto of the Tights are not Pants movement hilarious! There are even downloadable flyers you can print out to further the cause!
Personally, my stand regarding leggings is that as long as your top/dress covers your butt (even when you bend over), its fine to just wear leggings underneath.
I didn’t know anyone was disturbed enough about wearing leggings as pants to draft a manifesto on it! But its darn funny, so I assume it is not to be taken seriously

to be honest, i’ve seen many pictures on certain fashionistas blogs inwhich they are wearing huge t-shirts that look great on their frame, and can really get away with wearing tights as pants.
I’m really not bothered as long as the bum is covered! I alway slip on a pair of shorts underneath just incase..haha

It took me about five minutes to realise that ‘pants’ are trousers in this post. I was thinking that ‘pants’ were ya know, knickers / underpants.
I agree with Carrie, they [tights as pants] can look good on certain women. However, I don’t like the look myself. It doesn’t feel very modern or fresh. It is good to revisit a trend or decade, but to copy the 80s down to the exact look is just not doing it for me.
Plus, any look where I can actually see the shape of a women’s minky, is a trend too far in my opinion.

well, i guess the movement of this is not to stop people from wearing leggings, but rather, it is to enlighten people who wear leggings as pants.
meaning that the wearer simply wears leggings with tops that are way to short and exposed the whole bottom for the world to see. one can even trace out the lace of their panties.
i had encountered many people who wear tights as pants and it always never makes me feels like puking, for it is an extremely unsightly sight to behold.

Tights as pants were the trend a few months back in my high school in the US, before the weather got too warm. Frankly, it was revolting. Like what Edith Purdy above said, seeing the shape of my classmates’ privates was disturbing, too disturbing and in addition, I had to bear with their jiggling rear ends when they walked.

I’ve seen this before when I was feeling the same and started googling for like-minded people! Too funny!
It is also really unsightly wearing tights (that is not that opaque and thus not meant for sports) to yoga classes, I can see what they are wearing underneath when they bend over! Truth!

This is too funny! (though I’m with you- as long as whatever you’re wearing covers your arse even when you bend, substituting tights for pants is ok. But NOT otherwise).

This is so funny. I agree that in general tights/leggings shouldn’t be worn as pants, but I also agree you that can argue tights are acceptable as pants if worn with a long top. Maybe they should amend their manifesto a bit…
