Drawing Me

I don’t care what anyone says – I insist that this girl is my 2D, illustrated self!

I once read that Hello Kitty is so popular because it is infinitely versatile due to its lack of mouth *laugh* That’s why it can have a thousand looks because it can never have an expression that contradicts what the outfit wants to express.

I think it is the same concept with this girl, created by Scottish artist Suzanne Woolcott. You can find more of her work on her Etsy shop and her website. She also keeps a cute blog documenting her drawings and life in general :)

I wasn’t really looking through her prints with fashion in mind, so it is surprising how I am developing ideas about some of the clothes in the drawings.

An adorable little-girl-inspired dress with an empire cut and a full, full skirt. Most likely this idea needs modifications to make it actually wearable for those in their 20s :P But I strongly feel that such a dress will be perfect for running bare-footed in a field of flowers. But first, let me find that field of flowers…

Pairing a sweet pinafore ensemble with punkish striped gloves/arm-warmers. Once again, I’m sold on the clash of the girlie with the tough (or mock-tough).

After I see her bulky, shapeless hobo coat, I feel like I really want one too! :) And those plum-coloured boots are lovely!

I love those over-sized, statement-making headphones – and is that an iPod I spied?! :)

I love this photo most of all! I can’t think of a more literal interpretation of ‘pretty as a flower’ :D And I’m really feeling that demure looking dress with the smudged coloured hem-line and sleeves.

Suzanne’s prints all come signed and sealed in little clear archival bags, and mostly range from $15 to $20.

Once again, I am that girl!
