For some reason I expected a place she lives in to look a lot more comfortable than this. I love the sharp lines, the starkness, but as a place to live, I feel it needs a little clutter and a lot more activity than just bare surfaces and clean lines. Lots lots lots more flowers as well!

It looks as if she just moved in, perhaps she doesn’t spend much time at home?

That could be a possibility… unfortunately I’m not able to read the write up – it’s in French!

I agree, Stephie…I want some clutter! Hahaha. It feels cold and un-lived in, no? But I guess after all that visual stimulation she gets at work, she’d want to go home to a clutter-free space. I love the high ceilings and the light, though. Wonder how her closet looks like?!?

Yes it looks like no one lives there… if I were a house guest I would be terrified of touching anything or leaving anything anywhere. I much prefer Alannah Hill’s home:

I’m surprised the editors at Taschen didn’t include a picture of her closet, since it’s probably what she’s known for. I love this blog by the way. I’ve been reading for quite a while now and i’ve got you linked. xx

looks like a nicely wall-papered & corniced prison cell. homey!

Hi there,
For some strange reason..it looks like the flat in the movie “The Break Up” starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaugh…
Anyone sharing the same thoughts?

Wow, the rest of the flats in the Taschen book look amazing. Carine Roitfeld’s apartment looks unlived in. Or maybe she has OCD and has a need to put everything away. Very different from her fashion sense indeed.

i have no idea why somehow..pictures of apartments always look like no one ever lives in them! what about the random item being left around like – the stray pencil – or basket of fruits? or a carton of milk? oh and the half filled rubbish bin.

May I move in yesterday? Hm?

Maybe it’s her ’showroom’ and she lives in a really cluttered place. Perhaps she rents this out. (:

it is absolutely gorgeous, though I could go for something a bit more comfy!!

That’s exactly what her office is like too…. I think the minimalism works because the apartment itself is very old and Parisian…

Hey Susie… you’re right! Absolutely didn’t spot that, but with you pointing it out it really stands out from the romance of the architecture! Thanks!

[...] see her sitting in her apartment (which we’ve featured here previously) so we now know that’s not some fake Parisian condo showroom! [...]
