We had our second anniversary party today, and held it in conjunction with the bloggers’ meet up which has been swirling around the blogosphere for a couple of months. Let us share the story!

The idea originated from the student show we went to at Lasalle in April, where we met Vogueite and Nisa.
Stephie went to Swirl Swap Swop and had a great time meeting the Swirl Girls and Dorothy from Dotted Line.
Some time later in July, we went to Karen’s Do the Karen Cheng charity event where we had a really fab time speaking to bloggers like Mr. Miyagi and Karen. We thought – meeting bloggers are fun! Especially those who write blogs you love and read on a regular basis.
Some weeks later, we got round to discussing what we’ll be doing for our anniversary, and toyed with the idea of having a party. We decided – why not?!
A round of e-mails and many RSVPs in the Fashion Nation mailbox, we made plans for 30 – 45 people, and set out to source for food. We looked at brownies, swiss rolls, pastries, the works!
Stephie had a minor breakdown on Tuesday night where she saw enough cupcake photos to turn them from cute ickle things to scary swirly inventions of stress… but thankfully we found the perfect vendor to order from. She’s back to being chummy with cupcakes again.
Then, it was sourcing for the display, cake stands! Trays! Cutlery! Grocery lists! We had some luck with this, and found the perfect items in a flash. The next problem presented itself quickly – what the hell do we wear?! Dottie found inspiration from a street style photograph, and Stephie worked her outfit around a single top hat.

Our final pick for food! These were chosen from a lot of brainstorming, so we hope all who went enjoyed the food we had (:

We were setting up the food halfway when a delivery man came with the hugest and cutest cake we have ever seen. Dottie was overjoyed to see shoes on the cake, and Stephie didn’t even have such a big cake for her 21st birthday party. What a fabulous cake! It turns out that the cake was early, and it is a surprise present from our friends for the party.

Same friends we celebrated our 10 years friendship anniversary with! Thanks for the cake!

Apart from the top hat, Stephie has on a thrifted top with killer shoulder pads.
Finally, a top with a Balenciaga S/S08 feel… at least she had a go before the trend goes out.
Get ready for the shopper’s high: the top’s only three bucks.

Dottie is wearing her busy polka-dotted dress,
which Stephie thinks is acceptable and should be worn more often.
We have established that Stephie’s threshold is slightly higher.
Dottie is wearing a loaned Ferragamo headband from Stephie’s collection, recently thrifted as well.
We’re not sure if it’s authentic.

We really wish we had more time to mingle and speak to everyone, but we were filling up the food and making sure everything is cosy for our guests! (:
Let’s take a look at our guests! Cool cats and quirky dressers! We can’t believe everyone stuck to the theme, because the outfits look perfect despite the theme of wearing something we hardly wear out! Goes to show that every item can be rocked (:

The Wottoncool Girls: Jo (left), Sarah (right)!
Stephie has written about Jo’s H&M dress-top before, and she thinks that every item on Sarah should be worn with great frequency! (:

Cool cats!

Dinie from Poshpalette!
We like the understated tones paired with the brown belt and shoes!

Vogueite with his great mix of prints and details.

Nisa from Perisacooper! Always so sleek!
Stephie is very excited to see another hat in the room!

Laila from Rock the Trend, her schoolmates, and Rose.
These girls are great to talk to, and their outfits are perfect in each way!
Stephie loves Laila’s take on double denim! The nautical theme and that hat!
The fabulous maxi dress, and Rose’s great accessories from Daiso… we’re really impressed!

Us with Moe Moe and X-Wen (Fash-eccentric)!
X-Wen says she looks crazy but we don’t think so!

Great play on checks and stripes!

Us with Faith and Ying! Faith had a wig but we didn’t manage to get a shot!
Ying’s skirt is fabulous (Stephie has a weakness for leopard print!)

Zhiqiang from Trait!
Stephie really likes his play on color… is that a cummerband?!

Us with the Swirl Girls!
Stephie is excited to see a hat on Pris, and really likes Zann’s shoes and Evelyn’s dress…
but her favourite is Evelyn’s baby, Ollie!

Check out that cute baby face (:

Kay! We really love her shoes – Stephie is having shoe-envy (:

Liting (left) with Melissa (right)
Check out the sequins! And we noticed a lot of cuffed pants action in the room!

Ching Hsien ( We’re not sure if we got your name correct!)
We hear she made her own skirt?! Amazing!

Us with readers Claire, Venessa and friend
Check out Claire’s necklace, she made it herself… and love the belts on both girls!
Other than the great turnout, we were speaking to different people at the party, and really really wish we met Emma of blackpeace, Nicole from Cherry Magazine, Sheryl of Skip Skip Style and Melly of Green Laundry! To Nicole from Cherry Magazine, Sheryl of Skip Skip Style and Melly of Greenlaundry, we really wish you could have made it… thanks for the sweet ways you girls informed us that you weren’t coming! To the others who missed out due to prior appointments, we’ll see you again at other parties!
So… thanks for coming and making the party a huge success despite of the super heavy rain! Thank you Soon Lee for allowing us to hold the party at your place! We had a bucket full of brollies at the door, but we hope everyone had a good time (:

Hi kitten! Eek! I really wish you could have popped by Singapore when you went to Viet Nam a couple of weeks back… see if you can fit it in when you’re in Asia the next time! I want to meet you!

Congratulations on the blog’s second birthday, the party sounds absolutely fantastic! (it would have been a treat to be there just to see everyone- so many well-dressed people of both genders in the same room!). And Dottie, your dress isn’t busy – just very, very cute
. And I admire Stephie’s top hat!

Hi Drusilla! Thanks for commenting, I wish to meet you in person as well… Sometimes I wish the distance didn’t matter and all stores are global, that way we aren’t limited by our location and become free in doing anything we want to.
But I think I am dreaming, because this will be hard to come true…

HEY HEY HEY!!
I’ve enjoyed the party very much, so thanks for the invitation again!!
You girls are really really sweet and meeting you guys in person feels kinda weird, since I’ve always viewing you guys on outfit photos and all. HAHA! It’s like I don’t know you guys, but in fact, I do. HAHA!
Anyway, Dottie, I had a great time chatting with you and just watching you girls talking about shoe obsessions enthusiastically is just fun to watch!
Stephie, I really really hope I get to have a longer chat with you but you just seems to be so busy in and out of the room, I was afraid I would interrupt you or something. HAHA!
All in all, it’s a huge success, I’m glad and honored that I’m there and I would certainly look forward for the next meet-up!!
