Fashion Nation covers fashion on the Internet and blogosphere, including independent fashion sites, online fashion magazines, and the latest trends. At the same time, the Fashion Nation creators place emphasis on the fashion scene in Singapore, where they hail from.
Fashion Nation is a joint effort between two childhood friends, Dottie and Stephie, whose ten-years-old friendship has been strengthened through activities such as scouring through fashion magazines, discovering quirky vintage shops, uniting over beer and a lot of good food. They grew up in Singapore – the Land of the Eternal Summer, living as citizens of the Little Red Dot.
They’ve been saying that they will do this for ages, and now that they’ve gotten down to having a real fashion blog, they hope you love reading Fashion Nation as much as they love writing it.
Dottie and Stephie are currently plotting to take over the world. Watch out!

About the Fabulous Writers

Stephie (left) & Dottie (right)
***
Stephie is a freelance writer, currently working on various digital media projects. You can get to know more about her on her personal site where she writes about opinions, reviews, and life in Singapore.
***
Dottie is the Eternal Optimist, the Emancipated Mouse and the (imagined) Queen of the Little Red Dottians all rolled into one tiny girl. Being somewhat obsessed with grand-sounding, self-conferred titles, she takes a gleeful pleasure in churning them out.
She is a shoes addict and completely agnostic except for when it comes to the religion of SHOES – because she thinks they have magical transformative powers which must be venerated. She wonders when she’ll finally be able to afford $2,000 shoes without having to eat just bread for a month.
She is not snobbish nor does she discriminate where clothes are concerned (she loves cheap clothes). Anything goes if they do it well. For the girlie girl in her, she adores Marni and Chloe because they make her feel like she can be a live-size doll and never ever need to wear ‘grown-up’ clothes. For the boyish boy in her, she thinks that the perfect androgyny of Alexander Wang and Acne really rocks. In her books, Alber Elbaz and Marc Jacobs can do no wrong.
In the time when she is not surfing and blogging about fashion, she hatches schemes about her next Great Escape from the Little Red Dot, watches an unhealthy amount of cable, reads hungrily (her love for books rivals that of shoes) and daydreams a lot.
She works hard to make her dog, Coco, as human as possible, and thus Coco now enjoys wearing cute dresses. Coco’s favourite piece is a very French, navy & white striped tee.
She’d nicknamed the love of her life ‘Mr Man’, and she hopes fervently that she’ll have her happily ever after, eventually

To Whom It May Concern,
We saw your blog and are interested in pitching an idea. There was no contact information on your site that I could find and I was wondering if you could give me the name and email address of who best to speak with about this. Thank you.

Hi there
you have a very nice and fancy blog…i love all your fashion updates.
If you ever drop by to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, do drop me a mail.
I can’t help but notice you have written about shopping in Bangkok. I would be going to Bangkok this coming March, where about in Bangkok can I find these cool excellent local designers and tiny but brilliantly eclectic stores apart from the nice shopping malls.
I hope it is still safe to go.
thanks:)

Hey caron,
I think it should still be safe to go! I spoke to a couple I met last weekend, who had just come back from Bangkok – apparently a small bomb did go off again? – but nothing changed in the city, no one heard anything about it until a friend from Singapore called him asking if he was alright. I’m not sure how that’s supposed to be comforting, but I found it quite amusing.
You should take a look at the Siam Square area, which has alot of Bugis-like stuff but also some pretty original items in some of their stores. Playground, a three level design and fashion store, is a must-see, if just for the concept.

Hi!
I hail from Singapore too, and I must say (after some extreme blog-hopping-link-clicking one night due to excessive boredom) that I love reading your site and (strange as this sounds, I’m a stickler for good writing) your articles are very interesting and superbly written, well done, and keep it up!

Hi, I live in Singapore too and I sometimes randomly come across Singaporean fashion blogs, but this one is very handy! You actually found vintage stores in Singapore? I’m amazed! Also, it’s good to know someone in Singapore besides myself actually knows who Tom Ford is.

Hi Steph and Dottie,
I’m absolutely LOVING your blog! It keeps me in touch with the Singapore scene when in Sweden.
I thought your write-up on Francis Cheong was super! He made my wedding gown 2 years ago, and it was worn at my wedding here in Sweden.
Would love to show you a picture of that Francis Cheong wedding dress. It’s right now all bagged up *smile*.

Dear Dottie and Stephie,
You are a Melbourne Fashion Diva’s Hope.
Thank GOODNESS I found YOUR BLOG.
Having always been a Pro- Melbourne Fashion kind of girl (note: we melb gals are known as the most fashion fab in Australia) I find myself in a sea of fashion unknown…now that I am moving to Singapore….I know that there is style…Thank you
PS My Mr Man tells me that because I am tall and have a larger shoe size that there is nothing for me there…is he wrong?
August 23, 2008, 4:40 pm, at 4:40 pm
what size do you wear? And how tall are you… in metric terms?
I’m quite sure Singapore won’t let you down…

Hi,
I’ve been reading your blog for like three to four months and I just wanna say that I really love what both of you share on blogsphere. It inspires me a lot on my writing, actually.
Anyway, if I happen to go to Singapore again (just went there for the third time last month), I promise I’ll write an e-mail to ask you whether which things I should do on that weekend : )

Hi Stephie and Dot (: I’ve been reading Fashion Nation for a while now, and I think it’s wonderful and certainly useful for the average Singaporean fashionista. (And -ster. I’m not sexist, okay
) Love the little red dot flair, and please feature more local designers. One of your posts has inspired me to support more local work<3
I think praise should be bundled out in nicely wrapped, cheerfully given packages. So keep up the good work! You are appreciated.
You can check out my new (and still shiny and barely unwrapped) blog at shegallivants.blogspot.com
Tell me if I’m doing okay (:

Hello! I came across this blog while voting for Nuffnang’s “best blog”… and I am interested in writing for Manifesto Magazine.
Do email me at diane.chorister@gmail.com if this is possible. Thanks!

Wow. Words cannot explain the how this blog is amazingly, well, amazing!
As an inspiring writer, I look toward your unique insight on what’s up in fashion. It’s finally awesome that there’s still people in this world that keep true to their “own sense in style”.
Style on my friends!
