About Fashion Nation

Fashion Nation covers fashion on the Internet and blogosphere, including independent fashion sites, online fashion magazines, and the latest trends. At the same time, the Fashion Nation creators place emphasis on the fashion scene in Singapore, where they hail from.

Fashion Nation is a joint effort between two childhood friends, Dottie and Stephie, whose ten-years-old friendship has been strengthened through activities such as scouring through fashion magazines, discovering quirky vintage shops, and a lot of good food. They grew up in the Land of the Eternal Summer, living as citizens of the Little Red Dot.

They’ve been saying that they will do this for ages, and now that they’ve gotten down to having a real fashion blog, they hope you love reading Fashion Nation as much as they love writing it.

About the Fabulous Writers

Dottie is the Eternal Optimist, the Emancipated Mouse and the (imagined) Queen of the Little Red Dottians all rolled into one tiny girl. Being somewhat obsessed with grand-sounding, self-conferred titles, she takes a gleeful pleasure in churning them out.

She is a shoes addict and completely agnostic except for when it comes to the religion of SHOES - because she thinks they are somewhat magical. She thinks flip-flops are fugly though.

She is not snobbish nor does she discriminate where clothes are concerned (she loves cheap clothes). Power design houses and independent designers are always only as cool as their clothes. But if she is forced to choose a favourite (designer) label (at gun point), it’ll have to be Paul&Joe.

She works hard to make her dog, Coco, as human as possible, and thus Coco now enjoys wearing cute dresses.

She’d nicknamed the love of her life ‘Mr Man’, and she hopes fervently that she’ll have her happily ever after, eventually :)

Stephie is the prettiest girl in the world, in her own opinion, and is forever 21. Her favourite designers are Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford. Her very favourite brands are Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

She has three pets- two red-ear sliders, Strike and Money, and a pet chariot in the brightest hue of red with four round rubber legs. She thinks pets are expensive, whether dogs, boyfriends, terrapins or cars.

Shopping, food, literature, and the Internet are her obsessions, and she thinks that while clothes tell you everything about a person, it is the shoes, the hair, and the bag that speaks volumes about his/her taste. Of course there is also the perfume and makeup pouch, and then you know, everything else follow suit!

Her daily online fashion appetite consists of the following main courses: Yvan of Face Hunter, Susie of Style Bubble, Agathe of Style Bytes, Queen Marie and Michelle of Kingdom of Style, and Scott the Sartorialist. Side dishes include everything else on the Links bar!

  • To Whom It May Concern,

We saw your blog and are interested in pitching an idea. There was no contact information on your site that I could find and I was wondering if you could give me the name and email address of who best to speak with about this. Thank you.

    Jessica

  • Hi Jessica,

Actually, there is contact details on this very page itself! :) Maybe you may have missed it.

You can contact us at ilovefashionation@gmail.com.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

  • Hi there

you have a very nice and fancy blog…i love all your fashion updates.

If you ever drop by to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, do drop me a mail.
I can’t help but notice you have written about shopping in Bangkok. I would be going to Bangkok this coming March, where about in Bangkok can I find these cool excellent local designers and tiny but brilliantly eclectic stores apart from the nice shopping malls.

I hope it is still safe to go.

    thanks :)

  • Hey caron,

I think it should still be safe to go! I spoke to a couple I met last weekend, who had just come back from Bangkok - apparently a small bomb did go off again? - but nothing changed in the city, no one heard anything about it until a friend from Singapore called him asking if he was alright. I’m not sure how that’s supposed to be comforting, but I found it quite amusing. :)

You should take a look at the Siam Square area, which has alot of Bugis-like stuff but also some pretty original items in some of their stores. Playground, a three level design and fashion store, is a must-see, if just for the concept.

  • Dottie:

Hi! :) I’m a fan. Getting myself clued in about fashion by reading your blog.

  • Hi tweed

  • Hi!
I hail from Singapore too, and I must say (after some extreme blog-hopping-link-clicking one night due to excessive boredom) that I love reading your site and (strange as this sounds, I’m a stickler for good writing) your articles are very interesting and superbly written, well done, and keep it up!

  • Hi, I live in Singapore too and I sometimes randomly come across Singaporean fashion blogs, but this one is very handy! You actually found vintage stores in Singapore? I’m amazed! Also, it’s good to know someone in Singapore besides myself actually knows who Tom Ford is.

    Susie
