The Essence of Style

Even though girls always talk about wanting to find a good boy to settle down with, my observations tell me that girls actually just want to be with bad boys.
As for me, I’ve been known to prefer the goodies, hence the crazy fawning over Dan (and now, it seems, Nate!), but what I cannot resist [...]

Singapore Fashion Festival: Qiu Hao

I think Day Three of the SFF juxtaposed the versatility of Asian fashion. As compared to Ritu Kumar’s vibrant collection which Dottie has written about last night, it is of particular interest to me to explore Qiu Hao’s work after sitting in for a show of draping mastery and his minimalist yet intricately designed collection.

Yay! More Tokyo Style!

Once again, I have to express my admiration for the extremely sharp radar of Susie - she’s found a haps (read: short for happening!) Tokyo street style blog. I’m delighted that she’s pointed us in that direction, because I have great love for Japanese style.
The photographer in question is Sanna, and her pictures are of [...]

Japan Fashion Week: Zechia

Designed by Masahiro Nakagawa and Lica, this is their second collection for Zechia and the first time showing in Japan Fashion Week. I find the silhouette’s very inspired by the 1950s and 1960s, and I’m quite interested in the black tulip skirt as shown in the first picture.

Japan FW A/W08: Motonari Ono

I’ll be covering Japan Fashion Week in a belated manner. Let’s take a look at Motonari Ono’s mindblowing structural skirts:

This oversized tux jacket isn’t half bad either:

(Pictures from JFW)
At only 27, he’s fast becoming on one of my gawk-at list of designers. I’ve quite a penchant for structural skirts, and Motonari Ono seems to have [...]

Caution: Lust!

So who is in love with this movie as well? Raise your hands!

(from New York Magazine)

I have been holding out on this movie for the longest time - even now, I have not watched it in its entirety because I’m waiting with bated breath to get the DVD! Oh, how it will feel to add [...]

Asian on Pirelli

The annual Pirelli calendar has adopted an Asian theme this year - the pictures are so stunning!

(Picture from Love Made Visible)
Shot in Shanghai by Patrick Demarchelier, it features Lily Donaldson, Coco Rocha, Gemma Ward, Caroline Trentini and Du Juan - head on to the Pirelli website for more!

Rest Well, Shu Uemura

A sad piece of news came in over the radio as I was making my way to Haji Lane for dinner with Dottie. Amidst a mild traffic jam, I heard on the six o’clock news that Mr. Shu Uemura passed away of pneumonia on December 29.
I mulled and wondered - only knowing he was a [...]

Singapore Fashion Week Day 3: Nicholas

This is way overdue. But better late than never.
It is a pure stroke of luck that Stephie and myself are obsessed with different things - while she is overwhelmed by Francis Cheong’s flamboyance, I’m ooh-ing over the simplicity of Nicholas.
The Nicholas collection is based primarily on the shirt. The sleeveless shirt to be precise.

As always, [...]

Singapore Fashion Week Day 1: Fresh! - The Graduate Showcase

Today’s the first day of the Singapore Fashion Week, and it is Fashion Nation’s pleasure to obtain press passes to cover it, thanks to the organisers E-3 Communications & Design and TaFF.
We were more than delighted to be present, because we’ve scoured the local fashion blogs previously and have not come across any coverage [...]
