Skater Boots, the New Lace-Ups

Behold these Manolo Blahnik for Christopher Kane boots - the very ingredients for a shoe-gasm, I say!

It has to be, right? Since Carine Roitfeld are in them all through the Fall 2008 shows.
Let the countdown start - from today until I first spot a similar pair in Far East Plaza, the land of Knock-Offs. [...]

JFW: Theatre Products

Some time ago, I’d explained to a male colleague from work that I write for a fashion blog. He went ‘whaaat? But you wear polka dots to work!’, referring to a particular polka-dotted dress I have some kind of sartorial affinity for, because I’d pull it out after a month or two and put it [...]

JFW: Ritsuko Shirahama

Continuous late coverage here on Fashion Nation on Japan Fashion Week - I’m surprised so few bloggers are covering this. Let’s see what I like from Ritsuko Shirahama’s collection:

Structural skirt, mini-bowed cape. Love the textural contrasts which includes the flow of the fabric, diagonals from the cape, swirls from the skirt, topped off with reflective [...]

MIA: Gladiators

Dear fellow shoe-lover,
I need to rant!
Remember my craze for gladiator sandals? I’d hunted down a pair of black patent strappy heels from Charles & Keith, the national shoe-supplier for Singapore with their affordable and high fashion designs, but that isn’t enough to satiate my ever-lusty shoe quest!
It started with seeing dreamecho’s great gladiator flats, and [...]

Japan Fashion Week: Takumi Hatakeyama

(Photos from the JFW site)
We’ve been covering Japan Fashion Week in dribs and drabs, but you’ll be certain to find the chosen designers’ collections pleasing to the eye.
While I find my style straying away from the obviously girly silhouette, it is designs like these that continually pull me back. I’ve perused through Takumi [...]

Japan Fashion Week: Royal Chie

So… I figure the topic of fur causes somewhat of an extreme in opinion. In Singapore, there is absolutely no need for fur given the tropical temperatures, so I need never pick sides, but I cannot resist but to post these delicious coats from the Royal Chie label…

Let’s just hope they have these amazing coats [...]

Japan Fashion Week: Zechia

Designed by Masahiro Nakagawa and Lica, this is their second collection for Zechia and the first time showing in Japan Fashion Week. I find the silhouette’s very inspired by the 1950s and 1960s, and I’m quite interested in the black tulip skirt as shown in the first picture.

Japan FW A/W08: Motonari Ono

I’ll be covering Japan Fashion Week in a belated manner. Let’s take a look at Motonari Ono’s mindblowing structural skirts:

This oversized tux jacket isn’t half bad either:

(Pictures from JFW)
At only 27, he’s fast becoming on one of my gawk-at list of designers. I’ve quite a penchant for structural skirts, and Motonari Ono seems to have [...]

Chanel ‘Slimming’ Stockings - Yes or No?

Is this a ‘wow’ spin-off from the leggings trend or rather an obvious antidote for chunky legs?
Either way we cannot argue the way these stockings has snaked their way into our brains! I cannot stop wondering if we can actually Magic Marker it ourselves without dying of toxic absorption. There is no doubt that a [...]

A Note to the Shoes Fairy

Dear Shoes Fairy,
I think the heels are a much neglected part of shoes design. Sure, the shapes of heels are constantly evolving, but embellishing them is not as common.
Miuccia Prada is changing all this with her spectacular shoes. Her shoes are often more sculptural art than footwear - in a good way:
