Singapore Fashion Festival: Qiu Hao

I think Day Three of the SFF juxtaposed the versatility of Asian fashion. As compared to Ritu Kumar’s vibrant collection which Dottie has written about last night, it is of particular interest to me to explore Qiu Hao’s work after sitting in for a show of draping mastery and his minimalist yet intricately designed collection.

Singapore Fashion Festival: Ritu Kumar

After reading Ritu Kumar’s profile, where she was described as “one of the first Indian designers who was catalytic in bringing a contemporary idiom to several ancient skills”, I was excited to see how she can add a modern twist to traditional craft. I’d always have a tendency to look back where fashion is concerned, [...]

Singapore Fashion Festival: Ashley Isham

Day Two of SFF saw us at Ashley Isham where we saw his Spring/Summer 2008 collection. Granted, the collection showed previously in London, but seeing it up close was pretty exhilarating. The turnout was great!

Here’s an idea of what some of the dresses looked like from our view - You’ll have to excuse the quality [...]

Of Hats and Such

Away, away from all that nastiness, now I say it is time for Fashion Nation to revert back to poking about style and all that jazz.
I was browsing Nylon the other day, and came across lovely pictures of the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 08 collection. In sync with my ultimate aim of buying a top [...]

Put a Spring in Your Step

The April magazines are filled with Spring footwear, so while we’ve gone crazy over F/W08 it’s time to revisit the goodness of Spring’s shoes.
This season there’s a bit of fab for everyone, shoes-wise. If you’re following the markets, it seems that market uncertainty has taken over the world. I’m just wondering if people actually do [...]

H&M Love!

One of the reasons why I read Nitrolicious is the amazing pictures of H&M’s new stock. This dress is from the May/June releases in Europe, and the great thing is that I should be able to get my hands on this since I’ll be travelling to UK, Paris, Prague, and Berlin in May.

A Note to the Shoes Fairy

Dear Shoes Fairy,
How many pairs is too many pairs of booties?

Because I feel like I really need another pair. Like this pair from Gucci S/S 2008 - only with hot pink pipings instead.
Will blog for shoes,
Dottie

Let’s Go Separate

If 2007 was a long period of layering, 2008 will be a year of neat-as-a-pin crisp separates.
Yves Saint Laurent’s Stefano Pilati has just the right approach with his ready-to-wear Spring/Summer collection. Instead of flowy, floral dresses and wide-brimmed hats, he went right the other way and presented 42 outfits of strict tailoring.

 Having seen the way [...]

Skirting the Issue

I’d never been much of a skirt girl - I much prefer the ease of slipping on a dress. Call me lazy if you will Besides, I always feels skirts are not the best thing for my small frame, making me feel dumpy at times.
When I do wear skirts, there are certain things I [...]

Squeal/Squeal 08: Miu Miu

Oh how cute are these pictures? Hot off the pixelized pages of The Fashion Spot, we see Ms. Mary-Jane (gag gag) wearing this dress below:

Said dress does suit a floppy bow. Any floppy bow. The floppier, the better. However, I do love how Dunst is portrayed in the ads. There is always something fairly weird [...]
